Bark Assassin Bug (Microtomus purcis)
Bark Assassin Bug (Microtomus purcis)
Bark assassin bugs (Microtomus purcis) are debatably our prettiest species of assassin bug, with a widespread range throughout the southeastern United States. In the wild they are most often found under bark, in captivity they do well with bark slabs and moderate humidity levels. Additionally, this species seems to have a preference for beetles (such as mealworm beetles) over crickets. Microtomus purcis are extremely uncommon in the captive hobby and are the perfect challenge for any avid Hemiptera enthusiasts to try and culture.
Currently available specimens are field-collected adults.
