Cork-lid Trapdoor Spider (Ummidia rongodwini)
Cork-lid Trapdoor Spider (Ummidia rongodwini)
Cork-lid trapdoor spiders (Ummidia rongodwini) are an impressive species of mygalomorph native to the southeastern United States. They build silk-lined burrows fashioned with a “cork-like” lid which are often covered with leaf litter and other debris, making them difficult to find in the wild. Ummidia are rarely available in the hobby so if you’re a primitive spider enthusiast don’t miss out!
Currently available specimens are captive born babies and field-collected adult females.
