Mississippi Mud Turtle (Kinosternon s. hippocrepis)
Mississippi Mud Turtle (Kinosternon s. hippocrepis)
Mississippi mud turtles (Kinosternon s. hippocrepis) are a small species of mud turtle with a limited range throughout the southeastern and southern midwestern United States. Adults max out between 4”-5” making this species highly suitable for keeping indoors. They’re omnivorous, but prefer a high-protein diet. I’m currently feeding them ZooMed turtle pellets, chopped nightcrawlers, chopped fish, f/t beef heart, and duckweed. This species also enjoys ample land space in addition to water.
Currently available specimens are captive bred yearlings.
DISCLAIMER: All turtles and tortoises with a shell length under 4" are sold for educational, scientific/research, and export purposes only!
