Naked Goby (Gobiosoma bosc)
Naked Goby (Gobiosoma bosc)
Naked gobies (Gobiasoma bosc) are a small species of goby that inhabit bays and estuaries of the east coast from Massachusetts south to Florida and the Gulf of Mexico. Naked gobies, named for their lack of scales, tolerate a wide range of salinities and have even been found in freshwater. They are often found amongst oyster beds and other habitats with firm substrate.
Naked gobies aren’t commonly available to hobbyists but are, in my opinion, an extremely underrated US native that can make a great addition to many temperate and sub-tropical brackish and marine tanks.
Currently available animals are field-collected and have gone through a preventative quarantine and treatments as necessary.
