Pigfish (Orthopristis chrysoptera) are a colorful species of grunt that inhabits the coastal waters of Massachusetts south to Florida and west through the Gulf of Mexico, including Cuba and the Yucatan Peninsula.
Care Level: Intermediate.
Salinity (SG): 1.015-full marine.
Diet: Invertebrates and small fish.
Adult Size: 8"-12", up to 18" is possible although rare. Typically does not exceed 10".
pH: 7.5-8.5
Water Temp: 60-80F
Other Care Preferences: Can be aggressive. Should be with fish that are similar-sized or larger.
