Brown velvet birdeaters (Megaphobema velvetosoma) are a large species of tarantula native to Ecuador and Peru. These impressive tarantulas are uncommonly kept and there is not much comprehensive care information available on them. It seems that cooler temps, high humidity, and a deep substrate for burrowing are important to this species.
Currently available specimens are field-collected sub-adults.
