Tiretrack Eel (Mastacembelus armatus)

Currently available specimens are wild-caught imports. Tiretrack eels are highly-variable and may not look exactly like the fish pictured. 

Care Level: Beginner-intermediate.

Diet: Primarily carnivorous feeding on various worms, crustaceans, insects, snails, and small fish.

Adult Size: 26”

pH: 6.8-7.5

Water Temp: 72-82F

Other Care Preferences: They prefer moderate-medium hard water and do best with a sand or fine gravel substrate. Like most eels they are escape artists so care should be taken when choosing a lid, decor, and filtration.
